About

The Full Story

My name is Kadee Villiers and I have lived in Tallahassee since 2013. I graduated with my business degree from Georgia Military College in 2014. While I loved business, my heart had found veterinary medicine the year prior.  I worked at a spay and neuter clinic for two years where I spent a lot of time in post operative care and general well care of boarded animals. In 2015 I took a position at an emergency and general practice hospital. I nursed animals of all species from your typical dog and cat, to kinkajous and tortoises! I loved working in the ICU where I cared for hospitalized patients when they were at their worst and helped them reach the point of being able to happily walk out the door and return home in a much healthier state. I also enjoyed preventative care and client education. I was fortunate to treat many wildlife patients that were brought to us for medical care. It was always exciting to add those to the list of species I was able to nurse back to health. I became the lead surgery technician and enrolled to obtain my degree in Veterinary Technology at St. Petersburg College. I graduated with my degree and I passed the Veterinary Technology National Exam in 2019. Shortly after I was promoted to practice manager. I am a certified veterinary technician with a valid license in the state of Florida.

I currently have one senior dog at home but have fostered and had many others. In 2012, I adopted my foster dog who had neurological disabilities after being run over with an electric wheelchair as a puppy. I never anticipated the joy she would bring to our lives. I have a vast understanding of what it takes to be committed to your pet until the very end, no matter their quirks. While she was given a life expectancy of 4, she lived until she was 12. We love and miss her very much along with all our other senior pets who have crossed that rainbow bridge. (see photo of Bailey at the top of this page and our Labrador, Koda, who passed away in 2016 on the home page). My work is dedicated to pets like my own. Nervous, introverted, disabled, or geriatric, I know they do best in their own home and I choose to provide that to others as well.

After taking some time at home with my newborn, in 2021, I realized I really missed helping my community’s pets and started pet sitting with an emphasis on medically ill or senior pets whose quality of life is better when they are kept at their own home instead of a boarding facility when their pet parents have to leave town. I no longer pet sit but my focus is still the wellbeing and care of pets in their own home. While there are mobile veterinarians, Tallahassee is missing mobile veterinary nurses. I have seen a gap in the continuity of care from when the patient leaves the hospital and comes back two weeks later for a recheck appointment. I feel that I have a calling to bridge that gap and provide the best quality of care in the homes of our community.
